The Entropic Universe: An Effective Field Theory for Emergent Geometry and Localized Gradient Effects
Abstract
The Entropic Universe: An Effective Field Theory for Emergent Geometry and Localized Gradient Effects – Version 10 The Entropic Universe Theory (EUT) presents a minimalist effective field theory in which entropy density S(x,t) is the sole fundamental scalar field sourcing emergent spacetime geometry, gravity, and temporal structure. Gravity follows the Poisson equation ∇²Φ_grav = 4π ρ^ent, with traceless entropic stress-energy tensor T^ent_μν = ∂_μ S ∂_ν S − ½ g_μν (∂S)². Proper time is τ_S = ∫ (∇S / T) · dx, where temperature T = (dS/dU)^(−1) modulates gradient rigidity. Torsion arises via a vector potential in Poincaré Gauge Theory, and retrocausality is incorporated through the Two-State Vector Formalism without violating causality. At each fixed emergent time slice, local free-energy minimization drives the percolation exponent β_eff to the rigidity attractor β ≃ 3, dynamically selecting observable three-dimensional space. Small parallel-gradient offsets produce observer-dependent intersections without requiring extra dimensions. The theory recovers general relativity in weak fields to O(h²) while predicting testable micro-scale effects in magneto-entropic (YIG) and purely phononic systems. Version 10 adopts a single-scalar formulation (entropy density S only), places entropy production on-shell via the standard entropy-current divergence, and derives the TSVF coupling g directly from the density of residual primordial bonds in the EUT II lattice. Key additions across versions: • Version 7 introduces a decisive contactless diamagnetic-levitation protocol (Appendix C) using isotopically pure sapphire micro-spheres/disks. This eliminates metric-coupling noise and enables SNR gains of 10³–10⁸, predicting a reversible force signal in the 10–100 fN range scaling as (∇T)² T⁴ with sound-speed latency and clear isotopic/material dependence. • Version 8 adds Appendix D, demonstrating that the same scalar-line operations produce topological stability minima at Z=2 (global), Z=9,12,14,18,20 via the patch graph Laplacian spectral gap. • Version 9 adds Appendix E, closing the strong-field sector: black-hole interiors are local Planck-scale 0D core knots of residual primordial bonds. The horizon is a chart-dependent partition, r_s = 2M is a capture radius, and both information preservation and the Hawking spectrum emerge automatically from sub-local correlations — with no new equations or ontology. The framework aligns with several recent anomalies (thermorefringent noise, cuprate coherence peaks, anomalous thermal forces, etc.) and remains fully reproducible, with included figures, β-convergence plots, and analysis scripts. For the foundational pre-geometric ontology, see the companion paper EUT II.
