A high-resolution (daily and 1 km) atmospheric moisture collection over the North China Plain during 2003–2020
Abstract
The High resolution (daily and 1km) atmospheric Moisture Index Collection over the North China Plain (HiMIC-NCP) includes six moisture indices: Relative Humidity (RH, %), Dew Point Temperature (DPT, °C), Actual Vapor Pressure (AVP, hPa), Mixing Ratio (MR, g/kg), Specific Humidity (SH, g/kg), and Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD, hPa). With a high spatial resolution of 1 km × 1 km and a daily temporal resolution, this dataset covers the North China Plain from January 1, 2003, to December 31, 2020. It demonstrates high accuracy with R²/MAE/RMSE values of RH (0.879, 4.778 %, 6.364 %), AVP (0.988, 0.649 hPa, 0.912 hPa), VPD (0.921, 0.950 hPa, 1.345 hPa), DPT (0.984, 1.085 °C, 1.521 °C), MR (0.988, 0.417 g/kg, 0.589 g/kg), and SH (0.988, 0.409 g/kg, 0.578 g/kg). The dataset is organized into annual NetCDF files, each containing daily data indexed by the time coordinate. To optimize storage and maintain precision, each index is scaled by a factor of 100 and convert to 16-bit integer (int16) format prior to archiving. The original values can be restored by dividing the stored data by 100. The dataset is referenced to the World Geodetic System (WGS) 1984 Coordinate System. Comprehensive information on file naming and other specifications is documented in the “README.pdf”.
