Abstract

This Zenodo record contains supporting videos associated with the manuscript: “Spectral Characterization of CO₂–H₂O Ice Layering Under Controlled Mars Polar Conditions as Laboratory Analogues for Seasonal Cap Activity.” The videos document time-synchronised imagery and experiment progression during controlled ice-deposition runs in the MARVIN (MARs Volatile and Ice evolutioN) chamber at York University under Mars-like pressures. Each experiment begins with growth of an approximately 1 cm CO₂ ice layer, followed by incremental deposition of H₂O frost while short-wave infrared (1.20–2.20 µm) reflectance spectra were collected in parallel (spectral plots and quantitative results are presented in the companion manuscript). Four experimental configurations are included: A) Frosty CO₂ ice: CO₂ deposited under colder conditions producing a porous, highly scattering (frosty) surface on a dark substrate. B) Frosty CO₂ ice over H₂O: frosty CO₂ grown on a pre-deposited H₂O frost substrate. C) Translucent CO₂ ice: CO₂ deposited under warmer conditions producing a smoother, slab-like (translucent) surface on a dark substrate. D) Translucent CO₂ ice over H₂O: translucent CO₂ grown on a pre-deposited H₂O frost substrate.
