Abstract
Defining the Absolute Maximum Compactness of Stable Matter: Four Independent Derivations of a Single Geometric Identity Updated: 24 March 2026 This paper has been substantially revised and expanded from its original February 2026 version. The original paper presented a single derivation of the Ccrit=1/4 stability ceiling from pairwise fermionic exclusion under isotropic compression. While that argument remains intact, it has been repositioned as one of four independent convergent derivations, each approaching the same limit from a completely different direction. What is new in this version: The paper now opens with the gravitational self-closure condition C=g² from the universal closure framework as the primary derivation, confirmed via three independent mathematical routes within Schwarzschild geometry: the local speed condition the (field propagation velocity = the escape velocity), the geodesic deviation timescale balance, and the inflection point of the tortoise coordinate. A second new derivation establishes the limit from the nesting topology of gravitational closure — the inside/outside asymmetry of the unscreened 1/r² gravitational field produces a universal compression ratio in which any system at the Schwarzschild condition from outside sustains a maximum stable internal compactness of exactly 1/4, independently of the properties of matter. The original kinematic exclusion argument is retained as Derivation III. The thermodynamic node-lattice energy ceiling is retained as Derivation IV. The result that four approaches from classical geometry, gravitational topology, quantum statistics, and thermodynamic accounting all converge on the same number with no free parameters is the central argument of the revised paper. The reference list has been expanded from 4 to 27 entries, incorporating the foundational literature on which each derivation rests — Schwarzschild, Einstein, Tolman, Oppenheimer, Pauli, Dirac, Fermi, Friedmann, and the current NICER observational catalogue — alongside the companion papers of the closure framework in which the primary derivations are developed.
