Srotex/Lagos-ThermoPollution-Nexus: Initial Release for Manuscript Submission
Abstract
This repository contains the Python and JavaScript (Google Earth Engine) scripts used to generate all results, figures, and analyses in the manuscript: “Unmasking the Thermo-Pollution Nexus: A Multi-Modal Decomposition of LST–AOD Dynamics in a Tropical Megacity”. The code implements the full analysis workflow for the Lagos Metropolitan Area (Nigeria) from January 2017 to August 2025, including: • Google Earth Engine JavaScript for acquisition and preprocessing of MODIS MAIAC AOD (MCD19A2) and MODIS LST (MOD11A1) datasets.• Monthly aggregation, quality filtering, and gap handling.• Python-based time-series analysis, including STL decomposition, lagged correlation and regression analysis, Mann–Kendall trend testing, principal component analysis (PCA), and extreme-event detection.• Sensitivity analyses excluding Harmattan months and partial-correlation controls using NDVI and surface albedo. The code is provided to support transparency, reproducibility, and reuse of the methods described in the associated manuscript. Outputs from this software were used to generate all tables and figures reported in the study. This release corresponds to the version of the code used for manuscript submission.
