Abstract

04-26-2026: The frameworks and concepts originate from the author's observation and pattern recognition. Large language models served as articulation and stress-testing tools throughout development. No changes made aside from the addition of this disclosure. 04-04-2026 added ORCID to Author/Creator. No other information added or altered. This work presents v1.1 of a coherence-based architectural framework for Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) systems. The update refines an earlier publication by formalizing drift memory dynamics, clarifying inter-domain conflict resolution, and grounding safety thresholds within perceptual stability literature. The framework applies Embodied Coherence Regulation (ECR) and the Coherence Index (C-Index) to VR/AR environments, treating coherence as a measurable and regulatable system property rather than a collection of symptom-specific heuristics. Four coherence domains—spatial (Cs), temporal (Ct), sensory (Cv), and registration (Cr)—are integrated into a composite index with explicit state memory (D) and derivative-based drift detection (Delta-C). Key refinements in this version include: Formal discrete-time drift memory model with decay Explicit inter-domain conflict handling via global coherence optimization Clarified distinction between detection-grade and regulation-grade coherence signals Grounded Coherence Safety State Model (CSSM) thresholds Defined falsifiability conditions and empirical validation pathway VR/AR is proposed as an empirical validation domain with measurable ground truth, enabling controlled testing of coherence regulation prior to extension into autonomous systems. This publication is released as a technical note and architectural proposal, with projected outcomes subject to experimental validation.
