PHMD EEG Multiband Connectivity Pipeline: Reproducible Paired-Condition Analysis with Pearson Correlation and wPLI
Abstract
## PHMD EEG Multiband Connectivity Pipeline This software provides a reproducible EEG connectivity workflow for paired-condition studies, demonstrated using the public **Passive Head-Mounted Display Music-Listening EEG (PHMD) dataset**. The pipeline compares resting-state EEG with passive music-listening EEG across theta, alpha, beta, and gamma bands. It includes: - band-wise Pearson-correlation connectivity;- weighted phase-lag index (wPLI) connectivity;- cross-band connectivity similarity;- paired rest--music connectivity-matrix separation;- cross-band residual analysis;- participant-specific multiband change profiles;- a descriptive multiband change index;- exploratory principal-component analysis;- publication-ready tables, figures, reports, and machine-readable outputs. ### Easy installation and execution on Windows Windows users can start the project through the guided launcher: `START_HERE_RUN.bat` The launcher provides options to: 1. install the dependencies from `requirements.txt`;2. download the PHMD dataset directly from Zenodo into `data/raw/`;3. verify the downloaded dataset files;4. run the complete analysis pipeline. For a first-time installation, the **“Do EVERYTHING”** option automatically installs the required Python packages, downloads the PHMD CSV files, and executes the full pipeline. The analysis can also be run manually with: `python run_pipeline_eeg.py` The orchestrator is non-interactive and stops if a required script is missing or if any analysis stage fails. ### Dataset The public PHMD dataset is available at: **DOI:** 10.5281/zenodo.2617085 The dataset contains EEG recordings from 12 participants acquired through 16 channels at 512 Hz. ### Reproducibility Generated outputs are stored below `data/processed/`, including dedicated directories for publication tables, figures, reports, intermediate connectivity matrices, and machine-readable summaries. The release includes: - `README.md`;- `requirements.txt`;- `CITATION.cff`;- MIT `LICENSE`;- the accompanying methodological paper. Pearson correlation and wPLI are interpreted as complementary sensor-level connectivity measures. The pipeline is intended for exploratory and reproducibility-oriented research and does not establish anatomical, causal, clinical, diagnostic, predictive, or neuroplasticity conclusions.
