Temporal Membrane Theory: General Treatise v4.5 — Finite-Response Observational Reconstruction and the Three-Layer Structure of Cosmology
Abstract
Temporal Membrane Theory: General Treatise v4.5 is a revised edition that reexamines and consolidates, throughout the manuscript, the conceptual structure of Temporal Membrane Theory (TMT) established in Version 4, with particular emphasis on the definition of the theory, the three-layer separation in cosmology, and its correspondence with major observational domains. In this version, the central subject of TMT is explicitly stated in the following sentence: “This study addresses the temporal response kernel and the structure of observational reconstruction governed by it.” On the basis of this definition, the entire manuscript was reexamined to ensure that the three-layer separation introduced in the opening section—the observational layer, the reconstruction layer, and the interpretive layer—is maintained consistently throughout the work. This revision clarifies in each section that TMT is not a theory that modifies existing local dynamical laws, including general relativity, but a framework that treats the structure of signal propagation and observational reconstruction with finite response as an independent theoretical object. This version also newly clarifies the position of TMT with respect to baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) and the cosmic microwave background (CMB). TMT does not deny or modify these observational facts themselves. Instead, it examines how temporal weighting arising from finite response may enter the observational reconstruction processes through which these observations are translated into physical quantities such as distance, time, and expansion history. In addition, a TMT-based interpretation of the spatial offset between the inferred mass distribution and the hot-gas distribution in the Bullet Cluster is introduced in terms of finite-response observational reconstruction with history retention. Alongside the qualitative interpretation, a simple order-of-magnitude estimate is presented using d_offset ≈ v_merger Δt_rec. For an observed offset of approximately 100–200 kpc and a merger velocity of approximately 3000 km/s, the corresponding reconstruction-time difference is estimated to be of order 3×10^7–7×10^7 years. This is not intended as a precision model of the cluster collision, but as a minimal numerical constraint on the history-retention timescale required by the TMT interpretation. Version 4.5 therefore does not introduce new dynamics or additional matter components. Rather, it consolidates the concepts established in Version 4 into a manuscript structure suitable for external evaluation through an explicit definition of the theory, a manuscript-wide implementation of the three-layer separation, and a clearer statement of the theory’s scope across observational domains. The quantitative derivation of the absolute or natural scale of the temporal membrane density rho_t from the finite-response principle alone remains a subject for future development.
