La méthode d'évaluation rapide MANRAM - MANgrove Rapid Assessment Method - Approche opérationnelle
Abstract
The MANRAM (Mangrove Rapid Assessment Method) protocol is an operational framework designed to rapidly evaluate the ecological condition of mangrove forests using standardized, field-based metrics. It combines safety guidelines, structured field procedures, species-level observations, and multi-metric ecological indicators to provide a harmonized and replicable assessment tool across tropical mangrove systems. MANRAM relies on rapid but rigorous measurements collected within 100 m² plots, including structural metrics (fragmentation, height, trunk circumference, adult density, and species diversity), vitality metrics (health status, juvenile recruitment, erosion exposure, and anthropogenic impacts), and metrics related to associated fauna (bird communities, crab bioturbation, key species, and invasive species). These in situ variables are converted into normalized 0–3 scores and aggregated into composite ecological indicators calibrated to regional reference conditions. The guide details field equipment, safety procedures, sampling design, data-recording templates, and principles of standardization, intercalibration, and spatialization. MANRAM supports ecological monitoring, mangrove management, restoration planning, environmental impact assessments, and the development of regional ecological baselines.
