Abstract

Release Notes Bug fixes aggregate_local_errors: Fixed incorrect majorant computation caused by summing square roots instead of summing squared quantities before taking the global square root (sum-of-sqrt overcount). get_majorant: Fixed missing grid-mismatch (GM) terms in the global upper bound — gm_residual_error and gm_diffusive_error_perp are now correctly accumulated. Example 1: Fixed NaN in the dual true error computation near the fracture plane; fixed majorant formula so GM terms are grouped under the correct square root (perpendicular term under diffusive, residual term under residual). 3D geometry: Added bounds guard against degenerate perturbations in the Varela J-Num 3D geometry; added mesh_size_min parameter for robustness. New features Grid-mismatch error indicators (gm_error.py): New module implementing the three GM error terms for non-matching grids — compute_gm_diffusive_perp, compute_gm_diffusive_parallel, and compute_gm_residual — now fully wired into estimate_errors. Example 1 — full paper script: Rewritten main.py with GM indicator columns, effectivity indices, and consolidated LaTeX table generation (build_latex_table.py); guided subdomain halving experiment added (guided_halving.py). Examples 2 and 3 — paper scripts: main.py, build_latex_table.py, and (for Example 2) main_parallel.py added directly inside each example folder. Parallel execution (example_2/main_parallel.py): Example 2 can now run the three refinement levels concurrently via ProcessPoolExecutor. Compatibility PorePy 1.13: Full port — dfm_from_gmsh now receives Path objects, network_3d_from_csv renamed to network_from_csv, coordinate sign conventions updated, reference values recalibrated. Repository organisation Merged papers/ folder into examples/ — all runnable scripts now live alongside the model code they use. Output files (CSV, LaTeX tables) are now always written to the example folder regardless of working directory (Path(file).parent). Added README.md inside each example folder describing every file. Updated top-level README.md with package structure, per-example run instructions, and correct arXiv citation.
