Abstract

The code corresponds to the analyses presented in the manuscript "Surface and subsurface ENSO-related ocean temperature anomalies in CMIP6 HighResMIP: Model biases and their persistence under scenario forcing" submitted to SN Climate Dynamics on 17 June 2026. This repository contains the scripts used to compute and analyse ENSO-related temperature anomalies from CMIP6 HighResMIP model runs, NPD_eORCA025 atmosphere-forced ocean-only simulations, and selected observation-based datasets. Release Log: v1.0 - Initial Release of ENSO - CMIP6 HighResMIP Code v1.1 - Minor fixes to plot formatting code in plotting.ipynb and utils.py. Resultant figures (in ./figures/) updated due to this change. v2.0 - Event-Level ENSO Composites & Corrected Flavour Classification v2.1 - Changing/relabelling the primary analysis periods and minor modifications to the code
