Abstract

This deliverable, GRAPHIA D2.2 – Technical Architecture, presents the overall technical foundation of two GRAPHIA tasks, T2.2 (SSH KG Development and Deployment Infrastructure) and T2.3 (Data Acquisition Platform). The document consolidates the main technical decisions made under Work Package 2 (WP2), which focuses on the conceptualisation and implementation of the SSH Knowledge Graph. It describes the semantic, architectural, and operational layers that together form a coherent, FAIR-aligned and sustainable infrastructure. The first part introduces the SSH KG federation model, which connects autonomous knowledge graphs through a shared interoperability framework, rather than relying on centralised ingestion. This federated approach ensures scalability, autonomy, and sustainability while maintaining global discoverability across participating graphs. The GRAPHIA Ontology, aligned with the Scientific Knowledge Graphs Interoperability Framework (SKG-IF) and its reference ontology SKG-O (SKG-IF Ontology), provides the semantic backbone enabling this federation. Its presentation is provided in deliverable D2. The second part presents the initial design of the Data Acquisition Platform (DAP), a modular, microservice-based pipeline designed to harvest, normalise, enrich, and publish data to both the GoTriple KG and GoTriple. It supports incremental and batch updates, operates under an eventual-consistency model, and enables efficient reuse of processing components across projects. The DAP embodies GRAPHIA ’s commitment to scalability, resilience, and maintainability. The third part focuses on the GoTriple Knowledge Graph (GoT riple KG), the main GRAPHIA-managed graph within the federation. It will be a companion service of the GoTriple platform that transforms its SSH metadata into a rich, machine-readable RDF representation. Beyond reproducing existing metadata (documents, projects, author’s profiles), it integrates new categories of resources (datasets, media objects, semantic artefacts) and introduces AI-and NLP-based enrichment processes to extract entities and relations from texts, providing deeper and more fine-grained semantic descriptions of SSH data. This part also details the technology stack and infrastructure supporting the SSH KG. The document also specifies the deployment model for the components described here, together with estimates of the sizing of the GoTriple KG. The persistent identifier strategy is also presented. Together, all this outlines a coherent and sustainable technical architecture for the GRAPHIA ecosystem, forming a solid foundation for subsequent developments across the project.
