SRIT Database: A curated biodiversity trait database to support mechanistic ecological modelling
Abstract
The Species Resillience Impact Tool (SRIT) database compiles curated biodiversity data to support mechanistic ecological modelling. SRIT currently integrates a wide range of life-history, morphological, phenological, trophic, and behavioural traits for mammals and birds, drawing together information that is often scattered, incomplete, or unsuitable for direct model implementation. By harmonising and standardising trait data, SRIT addresses a critical limitation in mechanistic modelling frameworks, such as RangeShifter and MetaRange, where detailed, high-quality biological inputs are frequently scarce. The database is designed to be extensible, with planned future expansion to additional taxonomic groups, thereby increasing its applicability across ecological and conservation research.
