Abstract

This article presents findings from an explanatory sequential mixed-methods study examining volunteer engagement and retention in the UK third sector (N = 276). The study empirically differentiates engagement from retention intention and identifies organisational volunteer feasibility, particularly training and development, as a critical determinant of sustained participation. This article is derived from a completed and examined Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA). The research underpinning this paper has been formally assessed and approved as part of the doctoral examination process. This version has not undergone external journal peer review.
