Functional diversity accelerates leaf decomposition across rainfall and disturbance gradients, with context-dependent phylogenetic effects
Abstract
This repository contains the data and analysis code supporting the paper “Functional diversity accelerates leaf decomposition across rainfall and disturbance gradients, with context-dependent phylogenetic effects” authored by Rodrigo F. R. do Carmo, Pedro H. A. Sena, Felipe P. L. de Melo, Matheus Januario, Tamilie Carvalho, Fons van der Plas, Christian Wirth, Peter B. Reich, and Thiago Gonçalves-Souza. The materials reproduce the main statistical analyses and figures used to evaluate how functional and phylogenetic diversity influence leaf litter decomposition across rainfall and landscape disturbance gradients. The dataset includes field measurements of biomass loss from litter mixtures and monocultures, species trait data, plot-level environmental variables, and spatial coordinates. The accompanying R scripts implement linear mixed-effects models, spatial correlation tests, and model diagnostics to quantify diversity effects and their interactions with climate and disturbance. All figures presented in the manuscript are generated directly from these scripts.
