ICARUS — Second-Order Regulation (SOR): Laboratory Hypothesis vSOR-a
Abstract
This record contains the updated laboratory specification of theICARUS — Second-Order Regulation (SOR) hypothesis. The SOR framework extends the closed-cycle ICARUS architecture byintroducing regulation of the integration dynamics themselves, rather than direct regulation of state variables. This version incorporates:- vSOR-a: second-order regulation via memory of the integration rate.- vSOR-b (frozen): meta-regulation of regulatory inertia, allowing the system to adapt its own stability–plasticity balance based on persistent viability trends. The included PyTorch prototypes are theoretical laboratory artifactsintended exclusively for structural analysis of internal dynamics. They make no claims regarding intelligence, cognition, learning, orconsciousness. This version completes and freezes the Second-Order Regulation (SOR)hypothesis. Further development, if any, proceeds only at higherorders of regulation.
