NICENE CREED AND CHRISTIAN UNITY
Abstract
Seventeen centuries after the Council of Nicaea (325), the Nicene Creed continues to shape the Church’s faith, guiding ecumenical dialogue and renewing participation of the laity in the synodal mission of communion. The Creed’s confession of Christ as “true God from true God” grounds a unity that transcends denominational boundaries, inviting Churches to recover their shared apostolic foundation. In the context of the 2025 Jubilee and the synodal journey of Pope Francis, the Creed becomes a living rule of faith that strengthens collaboration among Christians, empowers lay witness, and revitalizes evangelization as a shared service to reconciliation and visible unity in today’s fractured world.
