Binary Input Universality: Equality of Jensen–Shannon and χ² Contraction Coefficients
Abstract
For any discrete channel with binary input alphabet, the contraction coefficients for Jensen–Shannon divergence and midpoint-referenced χ² divergence coincide: ηJSD(W) = ηχ²(W). Both reduce to the same one-dimensional supremum over the binary mixture curve.
