Abstract

⚠️ CORRECTION (September 2026) This dataset is not measurement data. It was published as "1950+ automated measurements of VPNperformance from Tokyo, Japan," and that description was wrong. The values are generated by measureVPNSpeed() in gas/vpn-speed-tracker.gs, which returns ahard-coded base value per provider plus a random offset and a time-of-day multiplier. No networkmeasurement was performed at any point. Google Apps Script cannot route traffic through a VPNtunnel, so measurement by this method was never possible. Please do not use this file as measurement data, and please withdraw any citation to it. This record and its DOI are being kept in place so that the correction stays discoverable foranyone who already downloaded the file. Genuine data from the same project, published separately: daily pricing for 15 providers in JPY,and a 10-criterion Trust Score rubric compiled from public information.
