A CLASSICAL REVIEW OF LITERATURE OF SNEHA KALPANA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO BHAISHAJYA KALPANA
Abstract
Sneha Kalpana is one of the most elaborately explained pharmaceutical procedures in Sharangadhar Samhita, a 13th-century authoritative compendium authored by Acharya Sharangadhara. While earlier texts like Charaka Samhita, Suśruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya describe Sneha preparations mainly in therapeutic chapters, Sharangadhar Samhita presents a structured, practical, and universally applicable methodology for preparing medicated fats, making it a cornerstone text for Ayurvedic pharmaceutics.
