Abstract

The use of highly purified and processed mercury (Shuddha Parada) is a hallmark of Rasashastra, the specialized branch of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics focusing on minerals and metals. This article reviews the traditional concept of Yogavahi, a unique property attributed to Parada and its compounds, which describes their capacity to enhance the bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy of co-administered drugs. We explore the classical interpretation of Yogavahi, the sophisticated processing techniques (Samskaras) required to achieve this state, and potential modern scientific correlations, particularly regarding nanotechnology and synergistic action.
