Abstract

Introduction: Mutravaha srotas which is responsible for urine formation and excretion, can undergo various pathological changes (Sroto Dushti) leading to disorders like Mutraghata (urinary obstruction), Ashmari (renal calculi), and Mutrakrichhra(pianful mituration) Understanding these vikaras (pathologies) through an Ayurvedic view helps in early diagnosis and holistic management. Materials and Methods: A comprehensive literature review of Ayurvedic texts (CharakaSamhita, Sushruta Samhita etc) was conducted, along with a comparative analysis of modern medical concepts. The study also examines clinical cases of Mutravaha Srotas disorders treated with Ayurvedic therapies. Discussion: The major Sroto Dushti types affecting a Mutravaha Srotas are Atipravritti (excessive urination), Sanga (obstruction), Vimargagamana (abnormal urine flow), and Siragranthi (vascular obstructions). Ashmari formation is linked to Kapha-Pitta prakopa and can be managed through herbal lithotriptic formulations like Pashanabheda (Bergenia ligulata) Mutrakricchra which is associated with kapha and pitta prakopa can be managed by snigda Verechana. Mutraghata which is associated with Vatadusti and responds well to Basti therapy. Conclusion: A precise understanding of Mutravaha Srotas vikaras allows for effective Ayurvedic intervention. Ayurveda's holistic approach to Mutravaha Srotas vikaras including dietary and lifestyle modifications can be usefull.
