Relational Spacetime from Pattern Renewal and Multiscale Nows
Abstract
We propose a process-based framework in which spacetime is not a pre-existing background but an emergent fabric arising from continuously changing patterns. Localized actualizations form stable or metastable patterns that renew across multiple scales. Each pattern possesses a scale-dependent local “now,” and the interconnection and synchronization of these nows generate the observed flow of time. Space emerges as the relational network of interacting patterns, while forces arise as constraints maintaining pattern connectivity. Apparent spatial stability and temporal continuity result from multiscale pattern renewal rather than static persistence. The framework explains why spacetime appears continuous, stable, and time- directed despite perpetual microscopic change.
