Photon Report EN V2 (Submission Package)
Abstract
This archive contains the V2-manuscript "Photons as Fundamental Units of Information: A New Interpretation of Quantum Experiments" (short report) and its supplementary material. The work develops a formal link between Landauer’s principle and photon energy, defining photons as carriers of a minimal unit of information. Consequences for double-slit, delayed-choice, and entanglement experiments are discussed, providing an alternative perspective that connects quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and information theory. The supplementary document includes extended derivations, background context, and historical references. This deposit makes both the short version and supplement accessible New in V2 (vs. V1).– Clarified the role of the receiver (bath) temperature in interpreting Iγ(λ, T): we use the convention Iγ(λ, T) = h·ν / (k_B·T·ln 2), i.e., the per-photon information is evaluated with respect to the effective temperature of the receiving system, which sets the noise floor and thus the operational bit budget.– Added two figures that visualize the information-per-photon landscape and the fixed-wavelength (visible red) case.– Minor textual refinements (notation, cross-references) across the short report and the supplement.
