Quantum Beat Signatures in a Two-Phase Model of Consciousness: A Comparative Analysis Against Classical Oscillators
Abstract
This letter presents a method to experimentally distinguish between quantum and classical models ofneural dynamics underlying consciousness. We argue that the Two-Phase Algorithm of Consciousness(QWIM), a quantum model, predicts a unique, empirically verifiable spectral signature: **quantumbeats**. Through comparative numerical simulation, we show that a quantum system, when excitedinto a superposition of two close energy levels, produces a modulated oscillatory response. Its powerspectrum exhibits a split primary peak and a secondary peak at the low beat frequency. In contrast,a classical neural oscillator model (Wilson-Cowan) produces only a single, clean resonant peak. This"quantum beat signature" serves as a definitive, falsifiable prediction that can be searched for in thefine structure of Gamma-band activity in EEG/MEG data during cognitive insight tasks.
