Abstract

This theological treatise explores a profound yet often overlooked dimension of Jesus's healing of the blind man in John 9, revealing it as a hidden baptism that employs the four classical elements—earth, water, air, and fire. The work demonstrates how this miracle mirrors the creation account in Genesis, where God formed humanity from earth (clay), water (to create clay), breath (air/spoken word), and the Holy Spirit (fire). The paper examines the distinction between John the Baptist's water baptism and Jesus's baptism with the Holy Spirit and fire, arguing that contemporary Christian practice may have settled for preparatory symbolic rituals rather than the transformative spiritual rebirth that Christ intended. A key reinterpretation presented is the "trees walking" vision, which rather than indicating incomplete healing, may represent the man's newly opened spiritual perception of human beings as they exist in the spiritual realm—echoing the "two olive trees" imagery from Zechariah and Revelation. This interdisciplinary work bridges biblical exegesis, theological anthropology, and sacramental theology, offering implications for contemporary spiritual practice and understanding of baptism as complete spiritual transformation rather than merely symbolic cleansing.
