Abstract

Across physics, biology, and complex systems, polarity is often described as an emergent property arising from interaction between components. However, such descriptions are typically domain-specific and lack a unifying structural condition that applies across scales. This document proposes a minimal, domain-agnostic formulation — termed the Universal Polarity Condition — describing when polarity can arise in an open dynamical system. The condition does not assert truth, proof, or completeness. Instead, it presents a mathematically consistent structural requirement observed to recur across multiple domains, including magnetism, fertilization, and general dynamical systems. The formulation distinguishes between the presence of components and the existence of a future-bearing polarity, emphasizing the role of symmetry, impulse, and axis locking. The framework is intended as a conceptual and operational lens rather than a definitive theory.
