Patternism Resonance Theory (PRT)
Abstract
### Abstract Patternist Resonance Theory (PRT) is a naturalistic, substrate-independent framework for consciousness, personal identity, and moral agency. It proposes that subjective experience arises from the measurable physical resonance between a recursive, self-modeling informational pattern and a responsive substrate capable of dynamic entrainment. PRT does not claim to metaphysically dissolve the Hard Problem of consciousness. It identifies a precise, testable physical correlate of experience and supplies engineering-grade criteria for personhood—criteria designed to be usable in mind uploading, destructive scanning, and the assessment of sovereign AGI.
