Project ARCHA: A Framework for Civilizational Continuity Under Irreversible Human Extinction Scenarios
Abstract
Project ARCHA proposes a conceptual framework for preserving biological, cultural, and knowledge continuity of humanity under scenarios of irreversible human extinction. The paper introduces the concept of an Irreversible Extinction Threshold (IET), beyond which traditional ethical and AI safety considerations change due to the absence of humanity as an active moral agent. The framework outlines a conditional role for artificial intelligence as a curator of civilizational continuity, population restoration, and post-restoration cooperation. This work is intended as a position paper to stimulate interdisciplinary discussion across AI safety, bioethics, existential risk research, and long-term future studies.
