Referee allowance policy for writing 'letter of recommendation' and answering the questions of research employer and/or research funder

Keynote In the present circumstances of academia (2025), service of a referee is not a direct paid job in academia, service of a referee is a professional job in academia, service of a referee is a job of professional relations and personal communication in academia. Writing a ‘letter of recommendation’ is also a research service which is also a professional service. In general, an applicant of research, PhD, and Postdoc funding can not appoint a professional referee due to lack of funding. Every assessor has a professional and ethical responsibility, research duty, and professional performance to write a ‘letter of recommendation’. Therefore, a referee may have professional demotivation in professional service to write a ‘letter of recommendation’ for a research scholar for a research scholarship applicant for a professional applicant for a nomination of research fellowship of an applicant. Hence, the referee and applicant remuneration policies in PhD and Postdoc scholarship/fellowship/professional job are critically explained and approached for the support of chancellery team of universities.
