Pattern-Dependent Effects of Pharmacological Intervention
Abstract
This paper examines the pattern-dependent effects of pharmacological intervention in psychiatry. Drawing on meta-analyses, discontinuation studies, and long-term outcome research, it argues that psychiatric medications primarily produce treatment-dependent modulation rather than durable correction of underlying vulnerability. By articulating how identical pharmacological interventions yield systematically different long-term trajectories depending on biological and regulatory organisation, the paper provides a framework for interpreting heterogeneity in relapse, tolerance, and post-discontinuation outcomes within the established limits of pharmacological treatment.
