Афганистан до и после возвращения Талибан (Afghanistan before and after the Taliban's comeback)
Abstract
The book is devoted to a turning point in the contemporary history of Afghanistan that occurred after August 15, 2021, namely the Taliban’s second return to power. The study presents an analysis and assessment of the situation in Afghanistan before and after the events of August 15, including the interests of external actors, the future of radical groups, the intra-Afghan peace process (2015–2021), and the results of the first year of Taliban rule in Afghanistan. The authors examine Afghanistan’s place in the foreign policies of the Central Asian states, analyzing the policies, approaches, and expectations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan under current realities; particular attention is given to Dushanbe’s policy toward the Taliban. The main challenges and threats to Central Asian states emanating from Taliban-ruled Afghanistan are identified. The authors also analyze the policies and approaches of the United States, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, and China during the fall of the republic and the Taliban’s rise to power, outlining the Taliban’s interests in relations with these countries. The book includes an analysis of the outcomes of the Herat Security Dialogue held in Dushanbe on November 29–30, 2022. The book is intended for specialists in political science, international relations, political global studies, foreign area studies, applied political analysis and forecasting, journalism, as well as for all those interested in Afghanistan.
