Abstract

We present a retrospective, methods-first framework that applies the Gated QuantumResonator (GQR) curvature–information balance, g2 = κ γϕ, to open atmospheric datasets. In this formulation, κ (geometric curvature) maps to synoptic structure (e.g., potential-vorticity gradients and Coriolis geometry), while γϕ (dephasing) maps to dissipative processes(turbulence and latent/radiative entropy production). Using public reanalysis and best-track archives, we define a nondimensional “Shield index” IGQR = g2/(κγϕ) and provide areproducible workflow (data fields, code schema) for post-event diagnostics of tropical cyclonesand mesoscale systems. The approach standardizes a curvature–information lens for openmeteorological data, enabling community comparison, uncertainty analysis, and hypothesisgeneration about coherence build-up without making operational weather-modification claims.Any counterfactual perturbations discussed herein are strictly offline sensitivity tests intendedsolely to evaluate metric responsiveness and reproducibility.
