Abstract

Classical Cepheids serve as fundamental tools for extragalactic distance measurements and critical tests of stellar evolution and pulsation models. However, accurately modeling their pulsations requires proper treatment of convection, particularly its dynamic interaction with stellar oscillations. I will present a systematic calibration of turbulent convection parameters in the MESA-RSP code through detailed comparisons with both observational data and outputs from Stellingwerf pulsation models. Our analysis focuses on reproducing key observables, including multi-band light curve morphology and various correlations between stellar parameters. The calibrated models successfully reproduce observed light curves for 18 LMC Cepheids while revealing distinct mass-luminosity relations between fundamental and overtone pulsators not reported previously. Our results also demonstrate that while individual stars can be well-fit with specific TC parameter combinations, a universal parameter set remains elusive within our current sample. Finally, I will discuss the implications of these results for upcoming time-domain surveys like LSST, where precise pulsation models will be crucial for advancing both stellar astrophysics and cosmological studies.
