Abstract

Environmental challenges in the 21st century demand urgent, interdisciplinary inquiry. This volume brings together critical research on ecological degradation, public safety, and biodiversity threats, with a focus on the complex interplay between human activity and natural systems. The first chapter, Ecotoxicological Effects of Organophosphate and Pyrethroid Pesticides, investigates how chemical pollutants alter soil health and nutrient dynamics, with implications for sustainable agriculture and ecosystem resilience. Perennial Flood Disaster and Challenges of Public Safety in Ibadan, Nigeria shifts the lens to urban vulnerability, exploring the socio-environmental consequences of recurrent flooding and the need for integrated disaster management. Finally, Invasive Alien Plants examines the ecological and socioeconomic disruptions caused by non-native species, offering strategies for mitigation and sustainable land use. Together, these chapters highlight the urgent need for informed environmental stewardship and policy grounded in scientific insight.
