SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: WATER, TOURISM AND INNOVATIVE GREEN SOLUTIONS
Abstract
The chapters that follow delve into some of the most pressing environmental challenges and innovative responses shaping our world today. From the microscopic menace of harmful algal blooms to the sweeping impacts of mass tourism, each contribution offers a critical lens on the complex interplay between human activity and ecological integrity. We begin with an exploration of harmful algal blooms, examining their environmental drivers, toxicological implications, and emerging treatment strategies that hold promise for mitigating their widespread effects. This is followed by a focused analysis of mass tourism, a global phenomenon whose environmental footprint demands urgent attention and sustainable rethinking. The discourse then shifts to the frontier of water purification technologies, highlighting the potential of hydrazone-based antimicrobials in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 6—Clean Water and Sanitation. This is complemented by a case study on Bangladesh, where the challenges of waste management in tourism hotspots underscore the need for context- sensitive, scalable solutions. Finally, we turn to the transformative potential of green innovations in agriculture, showcasing how agricultural waste can be reimagined as a resource for sustainable environmental solutions. Together, these chapters offer a multidisciplinary perspective on sustainability, innovation, and resilience—an invitation to rethink our relationship with the environment and to act with foresight and responsibility.
