CLIMATE-ADAPT4EOSC D1.2 Project specification, Architecture and KPIs
Abstract
This deliverable presents the reference architecture of the CLIMATE-ADAPT4EOSC project, which aims to integrate and make accessible climate data from diverse European and international data sources in alignment with FAIR principles and EOSC interoperability frameworks. It describes how heterogeneous climate datasets and derived products are ingested through open and federated data sources, processed via a middleware platform for authentication and federation, and FAIRified using standardised metadata, data transformation schemas, and cross-domain interoperability strategies addressing technical, semantic, legal, and organisational harmonisation. The architecture is structured around two core components: CLIMATE-ADAPTdata4EOSC, which ensures data collection, data standardisation, and FAIR compliance through SIMPL-Open Middleware and SMP Agents; and CLIMATE-ADAPTservice4EOSC, which builds upon these FAIR climate data assets to deliver four novel climate adaptation services, BDAnalytics, OPENHIDRA, 3SES, and Just-CURS. In addition, the deliverable establishes a comprehensive KPI registry covering documentation, data quality, and information security, providing measurable indicators to monitor progress, ensure accountability, and support the successful implementation of a robust, reusable, and interoperable climate data ecosystem that enables informed decision-making for climate resilience.
