ICARUS+E+R: Minimal Emergence of Reference Beyond Evaluative Differentiation
Abstract
This work introduces ICARUS+E+R, a minimal structural extension of the ICARUS+Eframework obtained by relaxing the constraint of non-substitutability. The purpose of thisextension is not to introduce meaning, truth, or consciousness, but to formally characterize the emergence of reference as a structural consequence of evaluative differentiation. We show that reference (R) can arise without semantic normativity (M), while also establishing that the introduction of reference creates the structural conditions under which meaning becomes unavoidable. ICARUS+E+R thus occupies a precise intermediate position between non-representational evaluative regulation and semantic architectures.
