The Geometric Origin of Rest Mass
Abstract
This paper establishes rest mass as a topological invariant of energy flux localization. We demonstrate that the fundamental distinction between massless and massive states lies in the geometry of the field trajectory. A massless state (photon) is characterized by an open, rectilinear trajectory (R goes to infinity), which lacks a local geometric center of mass. Conversely, a massive state emerges through a topological phase transition where the energy flux closes into a localized loop of finite radius R. This closure generates a stationary geometric center, transforming the energy of the flux into rest inertia. We derive the mass relation m=h/Lc as a direct consequence of the periodic work of field tension within a closed loop. This approach provides a purely geometric alternative to current coupling-constant models of mass.
