Abstract

This article substantiates the issue of enhancing the competency of students specializing in folk instruments in children’s music and art schools from the perspective of a competency-based approach and proposes a practical model for assessing learning outcomes. Competency is interpreted not merely as instrumental performance technique, but as an integrated educational result that encompasses performance skills, musical literacy, national and stylistic awareness, ensemble collaboration, stage culture, reflection and self-regulation, as well as the dynamics of professional growth based on portfolio assessment. The proposed model emphasizes formative assessment and the use of rubrics to ensure objective and continuous evaluation of students’ learning achievements.
