CHALLENGES FACED BY HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION STUDENTS OF UZBEKISTAN IN TRADITIONAL LECTURES
Abstract
The article focuses on investigating the significant issues encountered by college learners in Uzbekistan in the context of the conventional lecture-based learning. This research would help in determining some of the major pedagogical and psychological challenges faced by learners in the traditional classroom, and also propose effective ways through which these challenges could be overcome to enhance teaching and learning activities. The qualitative research design was applied with 40 undergraduate students of different universities located in Uzbekistan and questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The results show that the most serious obstacles of lecture-based learning include passive learning, low levels of student interaction, inability to develop critical thinking and the absence of interaction between lecturers and students. Also, the students have indicated a problem of low motivation, too much information and fewer chances of practicing the theoretical knowledge in a practical way. The research highlights the importance of incorporating student-centered practices and interactive instructions in higher learning to improve learning outcomes. The findings add to the current debate on reforming education in Uzbekistan and offer practical advice to institutions of higher learning.
