Continuous Action Orchestration: Fusing Planning and Execution for Resilient AI
Abstract
This paper introduces Continuous Action Orchestration (CAO) as a novel paradigm for achieving resilient artificial intelligence in dynamic and uncertain environments. Traditional AI systems often suffer from a rigid separation between planning and execution, leading to brittleness when faced with unexpected events, incomplete information, or system failures. CAO proposes a seamless, iterative fusion of planning and execution, where an AI agent continuously monitors its environment, evaluates plan efficacy, and dynamically adapts its objectives and actions in real-time. This framework incorporates adaptive feedback loops, real-time perception, and opportunistic replanning to maintain performance and achieve goals despite perturbations. The methodology outlines a modular architecture integrating dynamic planning, robust execution monitoring, and intelligent adaptation mechanisms. We discuss the theoretical foundations, expected benefits in terms of robustness and efficiency, and challenges in implementing such systems. CAO promises to enhance the autonomy and reliability of AI agents across critical applications, from robotics and autonomous vehicles to intelligent control systems.
