The Heart of an Arithmetic Progression: Why the Middle Term Tells All
Abstract
This note explores a simple classroom discovery in arithmetic progressions: for an odd number of terms, the sum equals the middle term multiplied by the number of terms. We present numerical examples, a symmetry-based algebraic argument, a visual justification, and pedagogical applications.
