Ciało widzące, ciało widziane. Jak obraz osadza byt w rzeczywistości
Abstract
Abstract A Body That Sees, a Body That Is Seen. How an Image Places a Being in Reality The starting point for the issues discussed in the article is a visual quotation, an original drawing entitled „A Body That Sees, a Body That Is Seen” The description of the content of the image, considering the material and technique of execution, constitutes the interpretative core of the themes discussed in the text. The main subject of considerations focuses on the relationship between the physical body and its double in the broadly understood space of art. The essay is divided into three equal parts titled: Alienation, Organism, Image. The first part highlights the phenomenon of alienation and the growing distance between the human subject and her body, which is key to the issues discussed. The status of the biological organism in the technologically advancing realities of everyday life is developed in the second part. The last part concerns the visual dimension of existence and the meaning of the image in relation to the embodied experience of reality. These issues are considered from a purely subjective perspective, based on one’s own artistic practice, expanded by the reading on the subject and finding confirmation of personal premonitions and intuitions. The text’s convention reflects the author’s creative interest and is constructed similarly to art images: it formulates questions, suggests potential meanings, but does not provide final answers.
