Fuzzy Logic–Based Smart Traffic Light Control System
Abstract
This paper presents a Fuzzy Logic–Based Smart Traffic Light Control System designed to improve traffic efficiency and reduce congestion at road intersections. Unlike conventional fixed-time traffic signals, the proposed system dynamically adjusts green light duration based on the number of vehicles and waiting time detected by traffic sensors. By applying fuzzy logic principles, the system is able to handle uncertainty in traffic conditions and make flexible, human-like decisions. The results demonstrate that the proposed system can reduce unnecessary waiting time when traffic is light and effectively manage congestion during peak hours. This study was conducted by a group of Bina Nusantara University (BINUS) undergraduate students, consisting of [Keisa Putri Alisa], [Marcellino Varian Saputra], and [Shieren Revalina Jesslyn] as part of an Artificial Intelligence course project.
