The Gravitic Medium: A Physical Memory Field Interpretation of Galactic Rotation Curves
Abstract
We introduce the Gravitic Medium (GM) framework, a physical interpretation of space- time in which gravitational effects arise from the finite relaxation behavior of spacetime itself under compression by mass–energy in motion. The framework introduces no modification to Newtonian gravity or General Relativity, posits no new particles, and requires no dark matter component. Instead, it proposes that spacetime possesses physically meaningful compressive and inertial properties that allow gravitational effects to persist after the passage of matter. We demonstrate that this memory-like behavior naturally reproduces flat galactic rotation curves, localized deviations, and wake-like structures observed in disk galaxies, using SPARC rotation curve data as a primary reference.
