The Dynamic Coupling of Energy, Semantics, and Time: A Mid-Range Theory of Rhythmic Resilience in Supply Chains
Abstract
Supply chains today operate under conditions of persistent disruption, where delays, uncertainty, and misalignment are no longer exceptional events but ongoing features of coordination. Existing research on supply chain resilience has primarily emphasized structural safeguards, redundancy, and speed of response. While valuable, these approaches offer limited explanation for how coordination remains viable when disruptions persist and rapid realignment is infeasible. This paper proposes a new perspective through the Model of Rhythmic Resilience (MRR), conceptualizing resilience as a rhythmic and generative process rather than as a static capability or a recovery outcome. The MRR provides a process oriented foundation for understanding how supply chains sustain coordinated action and remain viable under sustained uncertainty.
