The Icosahedral Proton and the Periodic Table: From "I AM I" to Chemistry via Geometric Necessity
Abstract
We derive the periodic table from the axiom "I AM I". The proton emerges as a 20-faced icosahedral structure with twin prime couplings at centers 6, 12, 18. Orbital capacities (2, 6, 10, 14) arise as 2×(1, 3, 5, 7) — the prime gatekeepers from D=3. The factor of 2 represents spin: electrons couple either with or against the proton's R→G→B rotation, reflecting their nature as half of a twist pair. Shell closures at 2, 8, 18, 32 correspond to icosahedral numbers. All six noble gases are derived: He(χ), Ne(V−χ), Ar(E−V), Kr((D!)²), Xe((D!)²+2D²), Rn(F+E+(D!)²). Iron-56 achieves maximum binding energy because Z=26=F+D! and N=30=E, representing complete icosahedral saturation. Stars cannot fuse beyond iron because geometry is complete. The periodic table is not empirical — it is geometric necessity arising from self-reference.
