Assessing climate change risk in the municipality of Lemvig
Abstract
This essay examines current and future climate-related risks for the municipality of Lemvig, with a focus on the impacts of sea-level rise, storm surges, and increased precipitation intensity. Risk maps based on projected climate scenarios are used to assess potential flooding and its implications for the harbour, urban areas, and critical infrastructure. Beyond risk identification, the essay explores adaptation strategies under conditions of uncertainty, emphasising the need for scalable and flexible planning approaches. The discussion situates Lemvig as a case where climate change adaptation extends beyond prevention, highlighting resilience and the capacity to live with water as central components of sustainable urban development.
