Abstract

This record provides “Appendix C (Electronic)” to the methodological framework “Methodological foundations for assessment of wildfire damage on woody–shrub vegetation in forest territories” (MO_ГП, Sofia, 2026). Appendix C is a colour, versioned catalogue of graphic reference plates used in Section 6.5 (“Integrated approach for post-fire damage assessment through graphic references”). It supports standardized, repeatable field assessment of fire injuries across key tree components: crown, stem, cambium and root-zone, and complements the interpretation of secondary biotic response through XCI modules. Contents (53 colour plates): • KR (Crown) – 11 plates (KR-01…KR-11) on a 0–100% scale (10% step). • ST (Stem) – 9 plates (ST-01…ST-09) supporting standardized visual assessment. • KZ (Root-zone under crown projection) – 10 plates (KZ-01…KZ-10), class-based. • CT / KZK (Cambium) – 6 plates (CT-01…CT-06), class-based, aligned with established approaches (incl. Ryan, 1982). • XCI-Bu (Buprestidae) – 9 plates (Bu-01…Bu-09). • XCI-Sc (Scolytinae) – 8 plates (Sc-01…Sc-08). Use: Forestry practitioners, Executive Forest Agency (IAG) experts, forest enterprises, research institutions and decision-makers for post-fire assessment, monitoring prioritization, and management decisions (e.g., sanitation / salvage needs and follow-up surveys). Print note: The printed MO edition is intended to be black-and-white; Appendix C is provided electronically to preserve colour fidelity and to reduce printing cost. Funding: Developed with support from the Bulgarian National Science Fund (FNI) project “Monitoring of xylophagous insects in forests affected by fires in Southwest Bulgaria”, contract № КП-06-М86/2 / 09.12.2024. Internal note: DRAFT (v0.1) for internal review within Forest Research Institute/BAS.
